Kuro is a desktop application for collecting, organizing, and searching visual inspiration. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Kuro desktop app and the website at kuro.day.
The content you create in Kuro — your items, images, videos, notes, collections, tags, and the properties you add — is stored locally on your device in a database and file store managed by the app. We do not upload, read, or store that content on our servers. It stays on your computer unless you choose to use a feature that sends specific data to a third party (see the AI feature below).
To sign in you create an account. We collect your email address and, optionally, a display name and the role / referral answers you provide during onboarding. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
If you purchase a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider, Polar. We receive your subscription status and limited billing metadata. We do not receive or store your full card details — those are handled by the payment provider.
We use PostHog (EU cloud) to understand how Kuro is used so we can improve it. We collect events about which features are used (for example: an item was created, a search was run, onboarding was completed), along with technical context such as your operating system and app version. These events describe actions, not the content of your items. Your onboarding answers (name, role, referral source) may be associated with your analytics profile.
When you actively choose to use the "Fill with AI" feature on an item, the relevant content for that item (such as the image) is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate suggested metadata (for example, a description or tags). This happens only when you trigger it. We record a count of your AI usage to enforce plan limits. We do not use your content to train AI models.
We send account-related emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset, email-change confirmation) through our email provider, Resend.
The app periodically checks for new versions. Update files and downloads are served from GitHub Releases, which may process your IP address as part of delivering the download.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content stored locally in Kuro for advertising.
We share data with the following providers only as needed to run Kuro:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Account, authentication, backend |
| Google Sign-In and the Gemini AI feature | |
| Polar | Subscription payments |
| PostHog (EU) | Product analytics |
| Resend | Transactional email |
| GitHub | App updates and downloads |
| Vercel | Website hosting |
Our analytics are hosted in the EU. Some providers listed above may process data in other countries; where required, they rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
We keep account and subscription information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated account data from our systems. Content stored locally on your device is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account directly from within the app (Settings → Account). For any other request, contact us at the address below.
We use reputable providers and reasonable technical measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
Kuro is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
